Before Moving to Costa Rica to Escape...

I absolutely love this. Yet another example of the ignorance and fear-mongering that is permeating this debate:

Costa Rica has had a universal health care system since 1941. Compared to the U.S., Costa Rica spends at least 6% less of their GDP on health. And they ranked one above the U.S. in the WHOs [...]

It Burns!

Being that hubs is a firefighter, I find this particularly entertaining…

NO REFORM! It’s Time to Protect the Insurance Companies.

A Video Montage to Save the Insurance Companies:

The time to not act is now. We must assure these corporations that we will not fight against them, but instead, we will sacrifice our own livelihood so that they can continue to wipe with gold-leaf toilet paper and fly in exquisite private jets.

Protect Insurance Companies [...]

Money-Driven Medicine vs. YOUR health.

Money-driven medicine vs. YOUR health. Which do you support?

I had the opportunity to see the documentary, Money-Driven Medicine a few months ago. It is a candid portrait of our sick-care system, ahem, I mean health care system. I encourage you to visit the film’s website and watch a few more clips. Most of all, I encourage you to host a screening of [...]

THE Rejected Health Reform Ad

Here’s the ad that ABC and NBC have decided not to broadcast nationally:

Yeesh. Smart move. This ad is beyond help. Seriously, if you’re gonna make an ad that tries to discredit something, at least use some credible sources…

Evidence A:  “Medicare as we know [...]

Is Race a Factor in Health Insurance Reform?

What do you think? Does race play a factor?

What the…?

The video you are about to watch is from Real Time with Bill Maher. Dana Gould takes over this segment and raises an interesting question about health reform (BTW, my apologies if the naughty word in the video offends you)…

What do you think about Gould’s question?

What’s Universal Health Care Really Like?

Check out what Bill Campbell is doing over at his website, Tome of the Unknown Writer…

You may have heard, we Americans are currently debating our health care system and there’s a serious fight to have some sort of universal health care. Currently, the opponents of reform are filling people’s heads with [...]

What’s Your Health Care Story?

Ugh. I’m sick of hearing what lobbyists and paid-off politicians think about our health care system.

Where are the voices of the people? Where are the real stories that discuss what is working and not working for our health care system? Let’s start the discussion…

What’s your health care story? Have you ever been let down by [...]

Hands Out of Healthcare?

I saw something today that left me absolutely depressed. While heading to work, I saw about 20 people protesting on the sidewalk. They were shouting and raising their signs at cars passing by on Washington Ave.– one of the busiest streets in Minneapolis.

Their signs read, “Hands Out of Healthcare!”

Now, I’m all about peaceful protest, but I equate this display to [...]

Health Care Reform: Should We Copy the Car Insurance Model?

Stevan Burd, the CEO of Safeway Inc., has created an employee health insurance program that has cut health care costs for those enrolled, saved the company big dollars and has increased the health of employees.

The Safeway program, called ”Healthy Measures,” is modeled after the car insurance system. Just as the car insurance model provides incentives to those who don’t speed or crash [...]

Health Care Discussion Results

In 2008, Change.gov challenged Americans to participate in “Health Care Discussions” as a way to encourage conversation and interest for health care reform. In response, 30,603 individuals participated in a discussion and shared their thoughts on what was wrong, right, fair and unfair about our health care system.

After a discussion, each group submitted a summary of their meeting and a final survey on their group’s top health [...]

Walgreens Drug Bust

Yikes. What a mess our healthcare system is. Even Walgreens, the giant drug store chain, successfully deceived the system. Apparently, the retail giant raked in some extra profits, millions actually, by engaging in some Medicaid fraud. Neil Thompson, a Walgreens pharmacist ended up busting his employer. Here’s a bit from the story:

Late last month, the [...]
