You must watch this…
OMG. Is this a joke?!!? My first question is how a kosher prostate exam might differ from a non-kosher prostate exam. Would this be different than a vegan exam or a Yogic prostate check? Hmmm… Besides being weird, there’s another concern I have with this ad:
*The ad reads: “Don’t die from embarrassment, Get a prostate exam.” Unfortunately, it’s not that simple; there’s actually a lot of controversy over routine prostate exams (AKA a “digital rectal exam” (DRE) often combined with a PSA test).
Here’s what the American Cancer Society says:
Consider what the Mayo has to say about the PSA test:
Here’s a great info sheet from the Mayo that discusses more about the pros and cons of the PSA test.
Also, GoozNews.com and Health Beat had some great articles on things to consider before getting a PSA test.
And finally, for laughs (sorry, I can’t help myself)…

I second the OMG! This is crazy! TV is always jumping onto whatever “cause” to make them look like they care. And really, are they being serious with this crazy suggestion???
What exactly is a Kosher Prostate exam?? Is it done by a Rabbi? Is it done with a Kosher Dill Pickle?
My son exclaimed that it was the weirdest commercial he ever saw! We both went into hysterics.
OMG!
Kosher dill pickle, hilarious! I have such a weird image in my mind right now…
Prostate exams DO save lives! I think it is the funniest, most attention getting health ad I have seen…which is probably what CBS intended! My father’s life was saved because he had an exam, and my mother was the one who insisted he go to the doctor. Their message is also consistent with the ACS position, because it is saying CALL HIS DOCTOR. How can there be the discussion about a prostate exam being right or wrong if you don’t make the call?
An exam can definitely save a life. However, there’s a lot of controversy over routine prostate exams (screening for cancer) for all men over 40 as some organizations have suggested. Unfortunately, the ad doesn’t stress the importance of men knowing the pros and cons for such exams. You’re very right, hopefully, a man will call his doctor and will be able to have this discussion. Unfortunately, our healthcare system doesn’t allow for much discussion time… it’s important that men do some research on this issue.
I seriously doubled over laughing when I saw this! Its HILARIOUS. Kosher…aren’t those the same people that introduced the world to the briss? I’ll pass on the “kosher” part of this exam. They are uncomfortable enough as is.
