When I was a trick-or-treater, there were two “must visit” treat stops; the first was a grey house at the top of our street that gave full-size candy bars and the second stop was the “doll house” (as we named it) where Shasta sodas were handed out. I can just imagine us kids running wildly from house to house, trying to adjust our discombobulated Halloween costumes, feeling the surges of sugar through our little veins and with brightly-colored Shasta soda stains around our mouths, shrieking a garbled and overly-stimulated “Trick or treat!” at every door. Ah, those were the days
The houses that handed out the healthy treats were the ones we often skipped. We were always willing to pass up raisins and apples for a chance at a full-size licorice rope. The real trick in all this treating is to find a healthier option that kids will love. Thankfully, there are options out there. Check some of these out:
Natural Candy Store: You can get it all here.
Pure Fun: Tons of different candies. Click here to see if a store near you carries them.
Stretch Island: “Smoooshed Fruit”.
Equal Exchange: Milk/Dark mini chocolate bars.
Yummy Earth: Definitely consider the lollipops.
Enjoy!
